We will replace your worn, frayed or broken sash cords and service your windows so they work smoothly and safely.
Our sash cord services include the following work:
- Careful dismantling of the sash from the window
- Checking, cleaning and lubricating the pulleys
- Re-cording the sash with quality high-strength cotton sash cords
- Removing excess paint obstructing sash running surfaces
- Weighing and rebalancing the sash with correct weights
- Renewing parting beads (as required)
- Re-fitting the sash in alignment with the beadings
- Checking the serviced sash operates smoothly and easily
A Lower Sash Cord Service starts from £99.99* per window plus VAT.
The lower sash service includes a strip down and rebuild of the lower sash with two new cords.
* Starting price for windows up to 1.3m tall.
Full Sash Cord Service prices start from £149.99* per window plus VAT.
A full sash service includes a strip down and rebuild of both the lower and upper sash, with four new cords.
* Starting price for windows up to 1.3m tall.
Because the lower sash has to be dismantled in order to work on the upper sash, both are serviced together. The sash cords in the window are likely to be the same age and condition, so it makes sense to replace them all at the same time.

For hard-to-reach and upstairs windows, as part of a full sash service we can fit a set of quick release cord plugs. These enable the window to be dismantled from inside the property by a competent decorator, whenever your sashes require painting. Avoiding the future need (and expense) of external scaffolding.
